Office 365 Success Story Series: McClone Construction Company

Seattle IT Services Portland IT ServicesThis post is part 3 of a 4-part series featuring real-world companies that transformed their business by integrating Microsoft’s  most competitive and seamless cloud product to date, Office 365

McClone Construction is a midsize California-based construction company that has expanded its offices throughout the US and needed the right technology to keep up with their growth.

1. O365 HELPED TRANSFORM MCCLONE’s business model INTO A SIMPLE, COHESIVE machine

Project/IT Manager Rick Owens found inconsistent productivity levels among their various offices - while one office may have had a slow day, another office was too busy to complete all their tasks. So the company decided to transition from a divisional business model to a more integrated model. By joining offices, they could utilize different employees abilities based on the location and type of project.

2. SKYPE FOR BUSINESS: SAVING TIME AND TRAVEL

Skype for Business proved to be the most useful tool for McClone Construction. With the ability to meet with 250 people at once, host video conferences across offices, and screen-share to make sure everyone is following along in the presentation, McClone saved time and travel costs.

"We've already seen a savings of at least 10 percent in our mobile phone costs, plus a 5 percent reduction in travel between offices, especially among upper management."
- Rick Owens, Project/IT Manager, McClone Construction

With employees always on the go, it's hard to keep track of everyone's schedule. On Skype for Business, the presence indicator allows you to see who is readily available, making it easy to call your team without going through the trouble of setting up a meeting. This speeds up the flow of information among offices and employees.

3. SHAREPOINT PORTAL IMPROVEd BUSINESS PROCESSES

McClone Construction uses SharePoint externally to share information between its partners. Internally, employees use it to organize files and share information such as team calendars for various projects, as well as engineering documents.

4. WORKING OFFSITE IS NOW A BREEZE

Employees download Office 365 applications not only on their work computers, but on their personal devices as well. This is great for employees who are always on the go. With automatic patching and updates, and the ability to be downloaded on up to 5 devices per user, It enables employees to stay connected and up to date on projects.

Owens appreciates how easy it is to add and remove employees without any surprise costs. Office 365 has increased productivity across McClone Construction and helped them become a more integrated and collaborative business.
